After a string of four wins, the Pisgah Bears's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell to West Henderson 44-40. Pisgah was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as West Henderson apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Pisgah's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kylee Leonard, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, and Dot Mills who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Leonard has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Chandler Lowery, who scored six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
West Henderson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jania Wilson led the charge by scoring 13 points along with two steals. Wilson continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden Lyda, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.
Pisgah's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for West Henderson, their victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pisgah will square off against Tuscola at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Tuscola is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. West Henderson won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against A.C. Reynolds at 6:30 p.m. on January 11th. A.C. Reynolds knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully West Henderson likes a good challenge.
