The Liberty Leopards's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 36-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Brookfield. Liberty lost against Brookfield in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 44-14 score last time.
It was another big night for Cailey Wellman, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 rebounds for Brookfield. Wellman continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mya Jumper, who scored nine points.
Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Brookfield, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10.
Liberty will head out on the road to take on Bristol at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Brookfield, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Maplewood at 12:00 p.m.
