After a string of six wins, the Resurrection Christian Cougars's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 21-14 to Thompson Valley. Resurrection Christian lost against Thompson Valley in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 41-6 score last time.
Although Resurrection Christian took the loss, they still got scores from Grant Applebee and Jackson Pszanka.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Thompson Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Riley Suarez, who rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 177 yards and two touchdowns. Suarez is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Garet Hendrickson, who picked up 108 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Resurrection Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Thompson Valley, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Resurrection Christian will take on Lewis-Palmer at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Lewis-Palmer is ranked 56th, while Resurrection Christian is ranked 47th). As for Thompson Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Discovery Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Discovery Canyon knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully Thompson Valley likes a good challenge.
