The St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs entered their tilt with the Rancho Cotate Cougars with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. St. Vincent de Paul came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cougars on Thursday and snuck past 53-51. That's two games straight that St. Vincent de Paul has won by exactly two points.
Despite the loss, Rancho Cotate had strong showings from Decimus Shaw, who scored 20 points along with three steals, and Adam Pengel, who scored 16 points. Pengel hasn't dropped below 16 points for seven straight games.
St. Vincent de Paul's win bumped their record up to 22-3. As for Rancho Cotate, their loss dropped their record down to 11-14.
St. Vincent de Paul will be playing at home against the Lobos at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Elsie Allen will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 801st, while the Mustangs are ranked 353rd). As for Rancho Cotate, they will head out on the road to square off against the Coyotes at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Sonoma Academy is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
