The Yosemite Badgers lost against the Chowchilla Tribe back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Yosemite lost to Chowchilla on the road by a decisive 63-48 margin. Yosemite has not had much luck with Chowchilla recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Yosemite's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Dayton Lee, who scored 19 points, and Scott Phillips who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Lee scored 15 or more points.
Chowchilla got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryan Deatherage out in front who scored 13 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Zayne Smith, who scored ten points along with six assists and two steals.
Yosemite bumped their record down to 5-12 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Chowchilla, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Yosemite will take on Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Liberty focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday. As for Chowchilla, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Sierra at 6:30 p.m.
