After a string of three wins, the Westside Seminoles's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 57-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Griffin. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Westside came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Griffin is ranked 370th).
Westside's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Chauncey Williams, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Williams is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Cam Rembert was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Westside's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Griffin, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westside will take on Rutland at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Griffin, they will head out on the road to face off against West Laurens at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
