Basketball Recap: Temple Baptist Academy Comes Up Short

If Temple Baptist Academy was riding high fresh off their 74-50 takedown of Clayton-Bradley Academy last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Temple Baptist Academy Royal Crusaders lost to the Berean Academy Eagles on the road by a 61-46 margin on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Royal Crusaders in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost six in a row.

Despite the loss, Temple Baptist Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Noah Mueller went 5 of 12 to rack up 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Mueller's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Weber, who posted nine points.

Berean Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Daniel Wigginton out in front who went 7 for 13 on his way to 17 points along with six steals and five assists. Those six steals gave Wigginton a new career-high. Cody Stansifer was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 12 points and nine boards.

Temple Baptist Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Berean Academy, their win was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-3.

Temple Baptist Academy has already played their next contest (against Calvary Baptist), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Berean Academy, they will face off against Lookout Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
