Mapleton is 9-1 against the Eagles since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Mapleton Sailors will look to defend their home court against the McKenzie Eagles at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mapleton has 14 straight victories, the Eagles have five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Saturday, Mapleton beat the by the very same score they won with last week: 41-29.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 74-47, which was the final score in McKenzie's tilt against the Lakers on Saturday.
Despite the loss, McKenzie saw an underclassman step up: Rhys Hamlow scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Hamlow is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Will Meister, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Mapleton pushed their record up to 19-2 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home. As for McKenzie, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-18 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Mapleton against the Eagles when the teams last played two weeks ago as the team secured a 65-22 win. Does Mapleton have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
