The Tecumseh Savages will face off against the Bishop McGuinness Fighting Irish at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Tecumseh has three straight victories, Bishop McGuinness has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Tecumseh will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Chandler, who they had gone 1-7 against in their eight prior meetings. The Savages came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lions on Monday, sneaking past 11-9.

Zant Shirey made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Tecumseh is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-10 otherwise. Shirey was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Wyatt Dodgion and Caleb Sparks did most of the damage at the plate: Dodgion went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Sparks went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Dodgion has posted since back in April of 2024.
Tecumseh kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Mount St. Mary hit Bishop McGuinness with a five-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Fighting Irish fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 6-5.
Tecumseh now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Bishop McGuinness, their loss dropped their record down to 16-11.
Tecumseh was able to grind out a solid win over Bishop McGuinness in their previous matchup back in April of 2019, winning 7-4. Do the Savages have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Fighting Irish turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
