The Panorama Pythons will square off against the Northridge Academy Pumas at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Panorama has given up an average of 22.2 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Panorama fell victim to Sherman Oaks CES and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 22-0. Having soared to a lofty 22 runs in the game before, the Pythons' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Meanwhile, Northridge Academy entered their tilt with Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Vipers 19-1. Considering the Pumas have won five games by more than 16 runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Alondra Laguna was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Valery Farias was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with six stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Guadalupe Ortiz was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Northridge Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Northridge Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Panorama, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
