The Wilson Bulldogs were the 28-14 winner over the Cumberland Valley Eagles when they last played one another back in November of 2016, but their luck changed this time around. Wilson fell to Cumberland Valley 20-14. Wilson gained 136 more yards on the day, but it was Cumberland Valley that made the best of use of them.
When it comes to explaining why Wilson lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Tommy Hunsicker. Despite the final result, he threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Hunsicker has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Brady Kline was in the mix as well, providing Wilson with two touchdowns.
It was another big night for Bryce Staretz, who rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns. Staretz is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last six games he's played.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Cumberland Valley's defense and their five sacks. Leading the way was Nolan Buzalka and his four sacks.
This is the second loss in a row for Wilson and nudges their season record down to 7-4. As for Cumberland Valley, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-5.
Wilson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cumberland Valley will head out on the road to face off against Manheim Township at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Manheim Township is on a six-game streak of home wins, Cumberland Valley a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field.
