Falls Lake had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past the Louisburg Warriors 3-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Firebirds also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2022.
Falls Lake never let Louisburg on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-12, 25-15.
Falls Lake's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tess DeZurik led the charge by getting 15 digs and six kills. That's the most kills DeZurik has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maggie Penn, who had 25 digs and three assists.
Coming up, Falls Lake will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on Carrboro at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Louisburg, they will square off against South Granville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
