The Whitko Wildcats''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Manchester, falling 49-19. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Whitko in their matchups with Manchester: they've now lost five in a row.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Landon Smith, who rushed for 86 yards and two touchdowns.
Reiss Gaerte was on fire for Manchester: he rushed for 311 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.0 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Eastgate, who rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown.
Whitko's loss was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 5.2 points per game. As for Manchester, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
Whitko does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Manchester will be playing in front of their home fans against Central Noble at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Central Noble is ranked 253rd, while Manchester is ranked 262nd).
