Sylva Bay Academy gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Prentiss Christian with a sharp 12-6 win. Sylva Bay Academy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.
Lane Miller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Levi West was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-5. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Kennedy, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Sylva Bay Academy's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Prentiss Christian, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2.
Coming up, Sylva Bay Academy will welcome Mize at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Prentiss Christian, they will head out to challenge Newton County Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
