Football Game Preview: New Kent Trojans vs. Jamestown Eagles

New Kent is 9-1 against Jamestown since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Trojans will take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Jamestown took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on New Kent, who comes in off a win.

New Kent will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 12 points last Friday, then bounced right back against Grafton on Friday. The Trojans came out on top against the Clippers by a score of 45-35. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Clippers are ranked 236th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Benjamin Christian produced another solid effort rushing for 260 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry, and also throwing for 53 yards and one TD. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 110 rushing yards per game. Chase Wiles also helped with two scores in total.

Meanwhile, Jamestown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 42-21 to York.

New Kent has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.2 points over those games. As for Jamestown, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

New Kent was able to grind out a solid win over Jamestown in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 14-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
