The Point Arena Pirates put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Roseland University Prep by a score of 57-47. Given Point Arena's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 367th, while Roseland University Prep is ranked 1070th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Point Arena to victory were Fernando Lopez and Derek Billy. Lopez scored 21 points along with 9 rebounds, while Billy dropped a double-double on 16 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Lopez has scored at least 25% of Point Arena's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dauki Bechtol, who scored 7 points along with 11 rebounds.
Point Arena's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Roseland University Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
Point Arena will head out on the road to face off against St. Vincent de Paul at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Roseland University Prep's road trip will continue as they head out to face Drew at 5:00 p.m. on December 8th. Hopefully Drew focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Thursday.
