The Tullahoma Wildcats will square off against the Page Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Tullahoma is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.
Tullahoma's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Huntland 15-0. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won five contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Avanley Metcalf was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That one hit allowed gave her a new career-low. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madison Goad, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was AC Holloway, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2.
Tullahoma always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .704. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Page hadn't done well against Summit recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Page came out on top in a nail-biter against Summit, sneaking past 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Patriots have posted against the Spartans since May 4, 2018.
MacKenzie Smith was incredible, scoring a run while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Olivia Braden was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Page's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.25 runs across that stretch. As for Tullahoma, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Tullahoma hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .358. However, it's not like Page struggles in that department as they've averaged .318. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Tullahoma might still be hurting after the 14-2 loss they got from Page in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Can Tullahoma avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
