The Patriot Pioneers were handed a two-point loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Unity Reed Lions on Tuesday. Patriot blew past the Lions 60-26 on the road. Given Patriot's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while the Lions are ranked 348th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Patriot was led to victory by Cheyenne Sweeney and Ella Negron. Sweeney scored 20 points along with two steals, while Negron dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sweeney has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maysa Bilal, who scored six points along with four steals.
Patriot's victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Unity Reed, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-16.
Patriot's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Osbourn Park will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive. Unity Reed will take on the Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
