Katelyn Billings made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-3. Those home runs marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, Peyton Locke and Zoe Zimmerman did most of the damage at the plate: Locke went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Zimmerman went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Locke has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Stella Kowalski, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Burlington-Edison lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contest, Sehome brought some dynamite into their most recent game. Everything went their way against Mt. Baker on Monday as they made off with a 10-4 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Mariners as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Sarah Kruzich was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. Kruzich was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jacinta Lewis was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Walker, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one triple.
Burlington-Edison's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Sehome, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
Sehome's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Burlington-Edison hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .445. It's a different story for Sehome, though, as they've only averaged .179. Will they be able to contain Burlington-Edison's hitters?
Burlington-Edison was able to grind out a solid win over Sehome in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, winning 8-5. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mariners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
