The North Central Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 57-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Holgate. The result was an unpleasant reminder to North Central of the 45-39 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joe Burt, who scored 19 points along with two steals. That was a full 37.3% of North Central's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnny Hicks, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
North Central has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Holgate, their victory bumped their record up to 3-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Central won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hicksville at 6:00 p.m. on January 20th. Hicksville is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Holgate won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Archbold at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. Archbold is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
