The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Clinton Christian Academy is ranked 177th, while South Pike is ranked 198th).
Clinton Christian Academy's 9-0 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 56-30 walloping at the hands of St. Joseph Catholic on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Clinton Christian Academy has scored all season.
Meanwhile, South Pike humbled Wilkinson County with a 63-34 victory. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory South Pike has managed all season.
South Pike can attribute much of their success to Jovon Leavy, who scored 17 points, and Lavell Thompson, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. Thompson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of John Harrell, who scored 11 points.
Clinton Christian Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for South Pike, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
