UNION CITY, Calif. - A 30-point lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter didn't slow down
De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) as it put 15 more points on the scoreboard to secure its victory over Logan (Union City, Calif.) 52-7.
The Spartans were up 21-7 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Devin Perkins to
Chris Williams in the first quarter.
De La Salle expanded its lead to 30 points entering the fourth quarter. DLS scored three times in the third, including once on a rushing touchdown.
The loss snapped the Colts' 7-game winning streak.
The Concord school's most effective player was Williams. The junior quarterback threw two touchdowns and caught one touchdown. He has now scored 18 touchdowns on the season.
Warren Long made a difference for Logan. He threw one touchdown.
LHS's lone touchdown came on a 38-yard pass in the second quarter.
The Union City school came in allowing just 8.1 points per game this season. The Colts struggled against the Spartans, which came in averaging 39.1 points per game. De La Salle had given up an average of 11.1 points prior to the contest.
The defeat comes as a step back for Logan, which notched a 40-7 victory over California in its previous outing.
