The Skaneateles Lakers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Jordan-Elbridge Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
In what's become a running theme this season, Skaneateles gave their fans yet another huge win last Thursday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 45-16 win over Solvay. The victory was just what Skaneateles needed coming off of a 47-27 loss in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Jordan-Elbridge had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They came out on top against Institute of Tech by a score of 69-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Jordan-Elbridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Erin Lavancha, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lavancha has scored all season. Ava Hildebrant was another key contributor, scoring 25 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
The win got Skaneateles back to even at 5-5. As for Jordan-Elbridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Skaneateles couldn't quite finish off Jordan-Elbridge when the teams last played back in December of 2023 and fell 41-38. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Jordan-Elbridge's Abbie Ahern, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. Now that Skaneateles knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
