The M.L. King Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Northgate Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. M.L. King will be strutting in after a victory while Northgate will be coming in after a defeat.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but M.L. King ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Providence Christian Academy and snuck past 98-96. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win M.L. King has posted yet this season.
Kennedy Ruzvidzo jr. was his usual excellent self, shooting 7-for-10 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 48 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Devin Bowers, who scored 30 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Northgate was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 49-45 to Newnan. Northgate has not had much luck with Newnan recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
The win makes it two in a row for M.L. King and bumps their season record up to 14-4. As for Northgate, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.
M.L. King won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, slipping by Northgate 57-56. Does M.L. King have another victory up their sleeve, or will Northgate turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
