There's no place like home for the Gregori Jaguars, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Wednesday. They took their contest at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 82-43 win over Modesto. Given Gregori's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 544th, while Modesto is ranked 1152nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gregori's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaleb Smith, who scored 12 points along with six steals. Smith has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayson Powers, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Gregori now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Modesto, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gregori will take on Downey at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Modesto, they will head out on the road to challenge Turlock at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
