The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights will square off against the Heritage Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Okaw Valley, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's game. The Knights put the hurt on the Timberwolves with a sharp 14-4 victory on Wednesday.
Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond let Will Hilligoss and Calahan Binion run wild. Hilligoss went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Binion went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Kody Burdick, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Heritage nor Unity Christian made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Hawks came out on top against the Lions by a score of 5-1. That's two games straight that the Hawks have won by exactly four runs.
Rylan White made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
White wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Happ, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Happ has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Kaden White also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Heritage's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-10. As for Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Everything went Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond's way against Heritage in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond made off with a 12-1 win.
