In what's become a running theme this season, the Timnath Cubs gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 69-31 victory over Platte Valley at home. Given Timnath's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Platte Valley is ranked 223rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Timnath found their leader in underclassman Tiana Guzman, who scored 21 points along with nine steals and eight rebounds. Guzman is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last four games she's played. Ayslee Stone was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Timnath and bumps their season record up to 10-3. As for Platte Valley, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.
Timnath won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Frontier Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th. Hopefully Frontier Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Wednesday. Platte Valley won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Strasburg at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Hopefully Strasburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Saturday.
