The Crestwood Comets will take on the Hanover Area Hawkeyes at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Crestwood has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 2.
Tuesday just wasn't the day for Crestwood's offense. They lost 8-0 to Wyoming Valley West on Tuesday. Comets fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Spartans since Tuesday.
Crestwood got a good showing from Ryan Brown, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Brown has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Crestwood saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaxson Fedak, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hanover Area). They blew past MMI Preparatory School 17-2 on Friday. Considering the Hawkeyes have won seven games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Cam Kratz made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Kratz was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Ryan Bennett was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeff Peck, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Crestwood's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10-1. As for Hanover Area, their win bumped their record up to 10-5.
Crestwood got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Hanover Area by a conclusive 11-0 score. Will the Comets repeat their success, or do the Hawkeyes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
