The Mercer Island Islanders were the 63-59 winner over the Lake Washington Kangaroos when they last played one another last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. Mercer Island fell 60-50 to Lake Washington on Friday. Mercer Island has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Mercer Island lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ryan Boyle, who scored nine points. Boyle continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Syver Lanctot was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Mercer Island's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-5. As for Lake Washington, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mercer Island will take on Jackson at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Jackson is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Lake Washington, they will head out on the road to square off against Bellevue at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Bellevue knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 games -- so hopefully Lake Washington likes a good challenge.
