The Solanco Golden Mules will venture away from home to take on the Cocalico Eagles at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
On Wednesday, Solanco came up short against Warwick and fell 8-4. The Golden Mules have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Solanco saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Herr, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another was Lucas Vilk, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Cocalico had to endure an 11-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over Octorara Area on Wednesday. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Aiden Davis made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cocalico is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 0-13 otherwise. Davis was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Cocalico got a massive performance out of Alex Fox, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Fox has posted since back in March. Connor Horning also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Cocalico was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Cocalico's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 2-14. As for Solanco, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
Everything went Solanco's way against Cocalico when the teams last played back in March, as Solanco made off with a 9-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Mules since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
