The Helias Crusaders will head out on the road to face off against the Vianney Golden Griffins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Helias has four straight wins, Vianney has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Helias got themselves on the board against Smith-Cotton, but Smith-Cotton never followed suit. They breezed by the Tigers on the road to the tune of 63-0. The result was nothing new for Helias, who have now won five matches by 26 points or more so far this season.
Helias' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Austin Weaver, who threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Mason French was in the mix as well, providing Helias with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Vianney was beaten by Valle Catholic 49-7 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Vianney can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 148th, while Valle Catholic is ranked 43rd).
Helias' win bumped their season record to 7-1 while Vianney's defeat dropped theirs to 2-6.
Everything came up roses for Helias against Vianney in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 59-13 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Helias since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
