In what's become a running theme this season, the Spencer Greenwave gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Kendrick 77-43 on the road. Given Spencer's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while Kendrick is ranked 510th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Spencer to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gary Gaither, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Gaither is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Ben Watson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Spencer's victory bumped their record up to 15-2. As for Kendrick, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spencer will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Rutland at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Rutland will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for Kendrick, they will head out on the road to square off against Northeast at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
