After flying high against Montgomery Central last Tuesday, Central Davidson came back down to earth. The Central Davidson Spartans took a 60-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Parkland Mustangs on Thursday.

Despite the defeat, Central Davidson saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Raegan McCarn went 8 of 16 on her way to 24 points and five rebounds. That's the most points McCarn has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Lal, who scored nine points and five boards.
Even though they lost, Central Davidson was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Parkland only posted four assists.
Parkland's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Azari Wilkins, who went 8 for 11 to rack up 21 points. Thanks to that strong game, Wilkins now owns an excellent 45.7% shooting accuracy. Jordan Fisher was another key player, going 7 of 13 en route to 17 points and three steals.
Central Davidson's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Parkland, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
Central Davidson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-25 win against North Davidson on the 7th. As for Parkland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 71-43 defeat against Davie on the 7th.
