Northwestern and Bladensburg are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Northwestern Wildcats will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Bladensburg Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Thursday, Northwestern had to suffer through a rough 95-26 loss at the hands of DuVal. While losing is never fun, Northwestern can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while DuVal is ranked 102nd).
Meanwhile, Bladensburg pushed their score all the way to 57 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 58-57 to Parkdale. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (56), Bladensburg still had to take the loss.
Northwestern dropped their record down to 3-11 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Bladensburg, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
Northwestern ended up a good deal behind Bladensburg when the teams last played back in January, losing 78-63. Can Northwestern avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
