Leo is a perfect 10-0 against Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Lions will venture away from home to challenge the Saints at 5:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Leo 2.5, Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Leo is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past New Haven 16-0 on Wednesday. The win was nothing new for the Lions as they're now sitting on four straight.

Luci Schott made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ella Moore, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Lexi Nighswander was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Leo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
While Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Saints sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Avianna Vasquez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Genna Renbarger, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Another was Maeve Miltner, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Leo pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, their record is now 8-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Leo has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Leo took their win against Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 18-3 score. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Saints have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
