Dunedin hasn't had much luck against Mitchell recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Falcons will venture away from home to square off against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Dunedin 2.3, Mitchell 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Dunedin will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Countryside on Wednesday. The Falcons put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 15-3 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Falcons' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Cael Rogers spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Dunedin got a massive performance out of Olivia Muller, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Malaea Johnson was another key player, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Dunedin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Countryside only posted an OBP of .185.
Meanwhile, Mitchell had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Saturday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Sailors. Eight seems to be a good number for the Mustangs as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Savannah Toukatly made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Toukatly was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Taylor Tucker was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Peyton Johns also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Dunedin's record now sits at 9-3. As for Mitchell, their record is now 13-5.
Dunedin's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's matchup. The Falcons have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Mitchell, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Dunedin continue to outrun the ball?
Dunedin might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Mitchell in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
