The Scott's Branch Eagles managed to keep up with the Manning Monarchs until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Scott's Branch suffered a tough 71-51 loss at the hands of Manning. Scott's Branch has not had much luck with Manning recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Scott's Branch still got an impressive performance from Jordan Kind, who scored 26 points. Those 26 points set a new season-high mark for him. Nigel Lawson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Leading Manning to victory were Jeffrey Ceasar and Tavion Carter. Ceasar dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds, while Carter dropped a double-double on 17 points and 20 rebounds. The match was Carter's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Cooper, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Scott's Branch has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Manning, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-3.
Scott's Branch will be playing at home against Orangeburg-Wilkinson at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Manning and Wilson Hall will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Wilson Hall is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
