King George is 8-2 against Caroline since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Foxes will look to defend their home field against the Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. King George is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
King George proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by six) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They never let Eastern View get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Foxes have posted since April 10th.
Not much got past Kelsea Minter, who gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Eastern View off the board. Minter has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
Meanwhile, Caroline entered their contest against Spotsylvania on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Cavaliers fell just short of the Knights by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Cavaliers couldn't push the score so high this time.
Jaidyn Tingen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 15 Ks.
On the hitting side, Nya Howard was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one double.
King George's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Caroline, their loss dropped their record down to 11-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. King George has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Caroline struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
