Barnstable had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-10-1 to make it four. They came up short against the Nauset Regional Warriors, falling 26-8. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-3 back in April.
Desiree Franklin made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Ryleigh Sheppard, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for Nauset Regional, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.
On Nauset Regional's side, Brynn Kew was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kew was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs and four RBI.
In other batting news, Savion Smith was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Fiona Fitzgerald was another key player, going 2-for-5 with four runs.
Barnstable wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 13-1 loss against Bishop Stang on the 9th. Nauset Regional has also already played their next matchup (against St. John Paul II), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
