After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, The East Wilkes Cardinals brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They blew past Alleghany 33-7. The result was nothing new for East Wilkes, who have now won three games by 26 points or more so far this season.
East Wilkes was led to victory by Austin Nash and Tristan Alkire. Nash rushed for 61 yards and three touchdowns, while Alkire rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Alkire was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 68 yards.
East Wilkes now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Alleghany, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
East Wilkes will head out on the road to face off against North Stokes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. North Stokes is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. Alleghany will take on Mount Airy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mount Airy will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
