After a string of three wins, the Kokomo Wildkats's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 41-32 to Tippecanoe Valley. While losing is never fun, Kokomo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while Tippecanoe Valley is ranked 42nd).
Kokomo's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Aijia Elliott, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Regan McClain who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Tippecanoe Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ava Egolf, who scored 14 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey Cox, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Kokomo's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Tippecanoe Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kokomo will take on Muncie Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Muncie Central has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 30. As for Tippecanoe Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wawasee at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Wawasee focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Saturday.
