Basketball Game Preview: Kit Carson Wildcats vs. Cheraw Wolverines

Kit Carson has gone 10-0 against Cheraw recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Kit Carson Wildcats will be playing at home against the Cheraw Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Kit Carson is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. Everything went their way against Holly back in December of 2024 as Kit Carson made off with a 61-38 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Kit Carson has posted since February 29, 2024.

Kit Carson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Avery Johnson out in front who went 10 for 14 on her way to 21 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. That's the most points Johnson has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Shay Rady, who posted 17 points and eight rebounds.

Kit Carson was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holly only posted one assist.

Meanwhile, Cheraw came tearing into Friday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They really took it to the Panthers for the full four quarters, racking up a 54-1 win. With the Wolverines ahead 36-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Cheraw pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Kit Carson, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Kit Carson was able to grind out a solid victory over Cheraw in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 41-28. Will Kit Carson repeat their success, or does Cheraw have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
