Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Blanche Ely Tigers walked away with it. They were the clear victor by a 35-12 margin over Dillard. The result was nothing new for Blanche Ely, who have now won six matchups by 22 points or more so far this season.
Blanche Ely found their leader in underclassman Omari Mcneal, who rushed for 60 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 113 yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Blanche Ely's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for nine sacks. Dillard's QB won't forget Joshua Lloyd anytime soon given Lloyd sacked him twice.
Blanche Ely's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.5 points per game. As for Dillard, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.
Blanche Ely will head out on the road to face off against St. Thomas Aquinas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Thomas Aquinas knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine contests -- so hopefully Blanche Ely likes a good challenge. Dillard does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
