On Friday Newell-Fonda take on St. Mary's at 7:00 PM. Newell-Fonda will really need to gear up for this challenge, as St. Mary's will be their toughest opponent yet.
Newell-Fonda won against River Valley three weeks ago with 52 points, and Newell-Fonda decided to stick to that point total again last Friday. Newell-Fonda steamrollered Harris-Lake Park 52-8.
Meanwhile, it was a close one, but St. Mary's sidestepped West Bend-Mallard for a 36-34 win. The tight race was right in line with the MaxPreps state rankings' forecast.
Their wins bumped St. Mary's to 5-2 and Newell-Fonda to 6-1. Given their high-scoring efforts against their previous opponents, it will be interesting to see how far up these teams can run up the score.
