The Riverside Pirates can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 42-27 win over Northeastern. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 20 to 9 on the offensive boards, as Riverside did.
Among those leading the charge was Emma Saylor, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Schlumbohm, who scored two points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.
Northeastern lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Danielle Phelan, who scored four points along with two steals.
Riverside's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-14. As for Northeastern, they dropped their record down to 1-21 with that defeat, which was their 23rd straight at home dating back to last season.
Riverside will take on Mississinawa Valley at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Northeastern, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Archbishop Alter at 6:00 p.m. on February 21st.
