The Sto-Rox Vikings won the last time they faced the Hopewell Vikings, and things went their way on Saturday too. Sto-Rox took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 63-36 win over the Vikings. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Sto-Rox has managed all season.
Sto-Rox's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was David Johnson, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Griffin, who scored 12 points.
Sto-Rox is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-10 record this season. As for Hopewell, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sto-Rox and the Ironmen will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Steel Valley is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Hopewell, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Pennsylvania (Blackhawk is ranked 489th, while the Vikings are ranked 492nd).
