Wheeler is 0-4 against Montville since April of 2019 but things could change on Saturday. The Lions will welcome the Wolves at 10:00 a.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Friday, Wheeler made easy work of New London and carried off a 16-4 victory. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Whalers: they've now won seven in a row.

Victoria Kleeman looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Isabella Deledda was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Addie Stanley, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Wheeler always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .658. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Montville had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Plainfield an 11-0 shutout on Friday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Wolves' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Abby Daniewicz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Daniewicz was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jainna Lesniewski, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Natalie Lutyen was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Montville's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Wheeler, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.
Wheeler might still be hurting after the 11-3 defeat they got from Montville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
