Two dominant guards in Luke Breslin and Trey Beamer are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Covenant Eagles will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Carlisle Chiefs at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. The Covenant will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 258th, while Carlisle is ranked 51st).
The Covenant suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 64-38 walloping at the hands of Eastern Mennonite. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for The Covenant in their matchups with Eastern Mennonite: they've now lost five in a row.
Meanwhile, even though Hargrave Military Academy scored an imposing 72 points on Tuesday, Carlisle still came out on top. Carlisle walked away with an 81-72 win over Hargrave Military Academy. The win was just what Carlisle needed coming off of a 57-37 defeat in their prior contest.
The Covenant has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Carlisle, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-8.
The Covenant was dealt a bruising 72-28 loss at the hands of Carlisle in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can The Covenant avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
