The Hough Huskies were the 69-59 winner over the Mallard Creek Mavericks when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Hough fell 59-47 to Mallard Creek on Thursday. Hough found out winning isn't easy when you nail five fewer threes than your opponent.
Despite the loss, Hough still got an impressive performance from Evan Otto, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Otto has scored all season. Another player making a difference was John Slusher, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Mallard Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Langston Boyd led the charge by scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Rassell Young, who scored 17 points.
Hough bumped their record down to 3-10 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Mallard Creek, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hough will square off against Harding University at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Mallard Creek, they will head out on the road to square off against Chambers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
