Othello extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 6-7. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ephrata Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-7 on Thursday.
Alexa Prochet put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Bethany Zamora made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Maria Tapia was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run.
As for Ephrata, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.9 runs over those games.
On Ephrata's side, Sidney Chornuk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven runs (all of which were unearned) on nine hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, Cami Martinez was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Bailey Falconer, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Othello will challenge Selah at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Huskies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season. As for Ephrata, they will square off against Quincy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Jackrabbits have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.5 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
